Sambo in summary

Sambo is a Russian martial art and combat sport which is relatively modern. The first Sambo tournament took place November 23-25, 1939 in Saint Petersburg. Sambo is based on many sports and types of wrestling, as well as various self-defense systems. Sambo harmoniously incorporates many elements of: French wrestling, Japanese wrestling "judo", Azerbaijanian"güləş", Moldavian "trynte", French boxing "savate", Dagestanian national wrestling, ancient Japanese "jiu-jitsu", Mongolian "bukh barilda", Chinese "shuai jiao", Armenian "kokh", Tivinian "hapsagai", and Georgian "chidaoba".
