Ruger & Bnxn - Ilashe - Live Session | Vevo ctrl It’s hard to believe Ruger and Bnxn were recently, as they discussed with Billboard, in a “beef.” Both chill Nigerian dudes, they’re natural partners, quick to laugh and well-skilled at fashioning catchy tunes. We saw that synchrony firsthand when they hopped into our London studio during the promo grind for their surprise collab album, ‘RnB.’ While its title is a sly play on words that, in part, points to American groove music, R and B linking up is a significant moment for their home continent’s main musical export. “For Afrobeats right now, many of us don’t work together, many of us don’t drop joint projects like that,” the wily Ruger has explained. If ‘RnB’ was promoted to their respective stan armies as a call for online unification, then “Ilashé” has been the ultimate peacemaker. It’s an undeniably catchy tune, and sounds even better when you watch the duo bounce around our ctrl stage. For a sugary chaser, pink house lights matched the rose-colored romanticism of “Bae Bae.” Afterwards, we grabbed them for a Footnotes interview about the airline shenanigans of their “POE” video. “To our surprise the TSA security guys were cool,” laughed Bnxn.
